11th Shankarrao Kanitkar National Level Moot Court Competition 2016-17
  1. Date: January 14th, 2017
  2. Venue: Modern Law College, Ganeshkhind, Pune, 16.
  3. Language: The written and oral submissions shall be in English only.
  4. Eligibility: Regular bonafide students of recognised Law Colleges/Institutes/University *(Only students from amongst the under graduate five year integrated L.L.B. degree and three year Degree law programmes)
  5. Dress Code: As per the rules of Bar Council of India (Baring Gowns and Bands)
  6. Team Composition: The team should consist of two mooters only
  7. Registration: The teams must register on or before 17th December 2016.
Registration Fees: Rs. 1000/- per team.
Students have to arrange for accommodation on their own. Pune, being a metropolitan city, ample amount of hotel/accommodation and travelling facilities are available in the city. If required and requested, College may provide assistance for accommodation.
8.      Bench: Two judges for preliminary rounds and of three judges for final rounds.
9.      Memorials:
a.       Four copies of each side (Claimant and Respondent), spiral bound memorials.
b.      The cover page of the Memorial must follow colour scheme i.e. Blue for petitioner/ appellant and red for respondent
c.       Typed on A4 size paper with one side printing not exceeding 20 pages, font size 12 (Times New Roman) line spacing of 1.5.
d.      The memorial must contain:
      1. Title Page
      2. The table of Contents,
      3. The Statement of Jurisdiction,
      4. The Statement of Facts,
      5. The Statement of Issues,
      6. The Prayer Clause and Bibliography
    1. Name of the participant and the College, only on the title page.
    2. Memorials not in format shall be rejected.
    3. Memorials will not be returned to the participants.
  1. Conduct of Moot Court:
a.      Name all participant colleges/institutions will be arranged in alphabetical sequence i.e. A to Z. Team A will compete against team Z, B against Y, C against X etc. (No draw of lots for preliminary round).
b.      Only in the preliminary rounds, each team shall compulsorily present oral arguments for both sides – Petitioner (one speaker) and Respondent (other speaker).
c.       In the preliminary round each team will be allotted 25 minutes (The Claimant and the respondent shall be allotted 10 minutes each, 2 minutes for judges Questions and 3 minutes for rebuttals. The rebuttal has to be done by one mooter only and it cannot be claimed as a matter of right).
d.      The final round will comprise of the top Four teams of preliminary rounds and claimant and respondent side will be decided by lots. (in order to give better representation to participating teams instead of 2, now 4 teams will compete in final round)
e.       The proceedings of the Moot Court Sessions may be video recorded.
f.       Host team shall not be considered for the Prizes even if they participate.
g.      The Competition starts at 9.00 a.m. The teams are to report latest by 8.00 a.m. on 14th January 2017
h.      Lots shall be drawn for the final round. Team shall (Speaker 1 and 2) present the side allotted to them through draw of lots.
i.        Each team shall be allotted only 15 minutes to argue in the finals. Exceeding time limit will result in loss of marks. Utilisation of time amongst team members is discretion of team.

12.  The decision of the judges shall be final and no disputes shall be entertained in this regard.
13.  In case of a tie, memorial marks will be considered to determine the winner.
14.  The Organizers reserve the right to take appropriate action for any unethical, unprofessional and immoral conduct.
15.  The Organizers decision as regards the interpretation of rules, situation which is not contemplated in the rules or any other matter related to the competition will be final.

1.      17th December 2016- last date for registration.
2.      17th December 2016- submission of online memorial (PDF format) along with submission of Hard Copy of memorial.
